Doing my thing … thanks @intheloupe_au for capturing some shots of me doing what I love over the past weeks. It’s usually me trying to snap a quick pic here or there of the young and young at ❤️ to help tell the story of what happens during our intergenerational connection sessions. Appreciate @suthshirecncl bringing you along to capture the story so we can help encourage more community connection !

Happy international Women’s day !! Here’s just a few of some incredible women I have been lucky enough to work with in aged care and education sectors. Subhadra, Mia, Kathleeen, Princess, Sarah, Joana, Michelle, Natasha to name a few. I continue to learn and grow with them and the amazing women ( and men) we work with every day !

Our second session of the program was very fun for me, and held some great conversations. This week I was paired up with Peter, who is a very sweet man and full of interesting stories and opinions. As this week had the theme of “Food and

Who would have thought a session staring out talking about what food means in our lives would end up with a lively dance rendition of Tina Turner's Nutbush City Limits? 🕺🏻 Thanks to the residents and students for their lively participation last week - with Brodie pleasantly surprised at the accuracy of his numerology reading by Beatrice, talk of days of horses and carts between Zackary & Graham and even some excited planning of some Greek dancing demonstration by Kyra, Maddie J & Maddy D with the lovely ladies from Golden Grove, Jeanette, Iris and Nina. Denis was a dazzling dancer as we waltzed to Andrew Gold's "Thank you for being a Friend" and thanks to Peter's daughter letting us know about Peter's love of Neil Diamond and Tina Turner, we ended the session with a great laugh and dance demonstration from the students . Keep an eye out for our next post where we will hear student Rebecca's reflection of time spent together last Friday

Happy Valentines Day to all 🌈❤️

This week is Seniors Festival across NSW - the largest celebration for seniors in the Southern Hemisphere and our chance to thank, celebrate and recognise seniors for the positive contributions they make to the community through hosting a range of different activities that they can enjoy. I’m thrilled that it also marks the kick off to our trial with Sylvania High School and residents from Hammond Care Miranda who will finally meet tomorrow. Jeanette (left) and Iris ( right) pictured here living it up at their dance 🕺🏻 class with Emma, are looking forward to connecting with the students. Jeanette, who grew up in Redfern, is a huge fan of musicals and will no doubt wow the students with her ❤️ for music from Sticky Fingers to the Rolling Stones and stories of travelling the world. Iris hails from Chile where she studied at the University of Chile to. Become a medical technologist and later worked in Australia at the Prince of Wales oncology unit looking after patients who were undertaking chemotherapy, preparing them for treatment, taking their bloods and helping them throughout the day.

Thanks Sarah Davidson for the recent interview for the special report in your Term 4 issue of School News on the holistic benefits of intergenerational education and connection for students. It is amazing to see the surge of interest in #intergenerational connection for high schools off the back of #oldpeopleshomeau for Teens, and those of us who have been implementing programs for a while are excited to be able to play a part in ensuring more sustainable solutions are being set up, for the sake of a better community for all.

A time of awakening and potential. Emma, the creative genius behind @pipandpod designed my @heartandsoulstory logo for me around 7 years ago.

Such a positive second week of sensitivity education sessions with students from Sylvania High School who will take part in our intergenerational trial in term 1 2023 with @hammond_care residents around 500 metres down the road. With around 1/3 of young people in the community knowing someone with dementia, and of this group of students 2 being directly impacted already themselves, increasing dementia awareness and education will play a vital role in helping increase understanding, empathy and reduce stigma in our community.

Reconnecting old buddies and introducing new ones ( welcome former English teacher Patricia and mechanical engineer & violinist Robert.

Thanks Aged and Health Care Education I' m really looking forward to running a webinar on #intergenerationalconnection to help encourage the considered, structured and sustainable uptake of #intergenerationalprograms & initiatives across our community. I will be sharing insights and top tips from both my journey over the past 5 years and also interviews with some of our leading Intergenerational care trailblazers practitioners from around the country such as Montessori educators Jessica Langford Barbara Langford , Social Worker of the Year Mark Silver , Bolton Clarke Research Fellow Xanthe Golenko , Intergenerational Learning Australia CEO Greg Cronan, plus directing attendees to fantastic training and resources such as those provided by the AusInstIntergenPrac AIIP that has provided the foundational forum for shared intergenerational learning in Australia Anneke Fitzgerald Emma Woods Dr Katrina Radford
